Illustration Friday - Cat

Illustration originally for an Article about Biting the Hand That Feeds You. I wanted to show a lion biting a the trainers hand without being violent and gruesome. The exaggerated perspective adds a comical feel. Original oil painting 20"x 20" then touch up slightly in Photoshop.

E is for E-mail

Illustration Friday entry - E is for...
Illustration created originally for Sortonce.com. I just added (1-14-05) the transparent envelope after realizing that without having to tweak too many things a lot of the envelop lines lined up with the original image.

Technique: Pencil scanned in and worked on top in Illustrator and Photoshop.
Original size: 13.7 x 7 at 300 dpi.

Illustrationfriday.com - Sea

Oil/Digital 24" x 20"

This is my first entry for the http://www.IllustrationFriday.com. This is my Sea theme. Most of my stuff is realistic and highly detailed so it's usually impossible (with other paying work to do) a new piece every week for free. This lighthouse piece was originally done for some marketing materials for North American Mission Board (NAMB). They wanted to portray a blue night scene stormy sea with a guiding light from the lighthouse. They wanted it to be a generic lighthouse but I wanted it to be a specific lighthouse. Splitrock Lighthouse, Duluth, MN. So I created what they wanted and later digitally made it specific. Everything but the lighthouse and light were painted with oils. I added the lighthouse and transparent light in photoshop. It was fun painting the angry sea and clouds. If you have read this far please feel free to make a comment.

Yet Another Blog

Hello and thanks for visiting. Isn't it strange how there are some people that are so private they have trouble expressing their thoughts to thier most intimate compainion. Then there are others that want the whole world to know their every thought. Either of these are of course extremes. Most of us are in the middle and so am I. I'll use this blog for experimental thinking, links of interest, photos, art, articles, and posts of my work for Illustration Friday. Every post is meant to be free thinking and fun (or at least fun to me). I'll try to post only things that would be interesting to others. Please feel free to email me or post comments as much as you would like. Otherwise, what's the point of this www blog if know one sees it and makes comments. I might as well just write it in a locked dairy.

Enjoy.
